Minden

Minden is a town in Douglas County, located roughly in the center of the Carson Valley. It directly adjoins the town of Gardnerville, to the southeast. It is the county seat of Douglas County. The population was 2,836 at the 2000 census, although 2005 estimates place the population of Minden, Nevada at 3,234 [1]. It is named after the town of Minden Germany, which is nearby where the town founder H.F. Dangberg grew up.

U.S. Highway 395 runs through Minden. It is also the terminus of Highway 88, which runs south into California.

The Douglas campus of the Western Nevada College is located in Minden.

The Minden area is considered one of the premier locations for soaring in the United States.
