The Historical Myth a Month is a monthly column written by Nevada State Archivist Guy Rocha. Its purpose is to debunk common myths about Nevada, like the Capitol dome being made of silver [1] and the first elevator west of the Mississippi being in Virginia City [2]. The column is published in the Sierra Sage magazine, and on the Nevada State Library and Archives website.
