From Carsonpedia
V&T Locomotive No. 8, also known as "The Humboldt", is a historic locomotive that once ran on the Virginia and Truckee Railroad.
[edit] 1875 Crash
The Humboldt was badly damaged by some runaway freight cars on January 16, 1875. It was the second engine in a double-header coming up from Carson, behind The Comstock, and the three cars rolled downhill from Gold Hill and hit the engine head on. No lives were lost, but major damage occurred. Main article: 1875 Runaway Train Collision.
