I grew up in this neighborhood, and my best friends lived in the house that was later torn down on that lot. I have memories of sitting underneath this tree, watching lightning... (!!!) How we ever made it ouf of our childhoods, I'll never know... sheesh.... We knew it was an awesomely huuuge tree, but I remember being shocked when they said if was a bicentennial tree. I believe it came about, because the tree was slated to be taken down, and several interested parties tried to find a way to keep it from happening... I guess this was it... *G* At least it leaves a good childhood memory for me...
