Historical Marker 78
This is Nevada State Historical Marker #78, one of 266 markers scattered around the state.
This marker is located in Carson City, in the front yard of the Orion Clemens House at the corner of Division and Spear Streets.
This sign is different from most of the others in that it's kind of small, only about a foot high compared to the 4-5 feet of the other signs. The sign itself is dated May 10, 1977.
ORION CLEMENS' HOME
Orion Clemens, secretary to Territorial Governor James W. Nye, lived in this house with his wife, "Mollie," from 1864 to 1866. His brother, Samuel, a reporter for the Territorial Enterprise, who later became famous as "Mark Twain," stayed here periodically in 1864.
