Glenn Lucky (born September 27, 1952) is an Indian Hills resident who is often seen riding his three-wheel bicycle around Carson City and Hwy 395. He started riding at age 15 as a form of therapy to combat his cerebral palsy. Riding has since become his passion, and also his job, as he often tows a trailer full of advertising behind him. Glenn has become a local hero over the years, because no matter how bad things get, you always know you’ll see Glenn somewhere in town.

[edit] Accomplishments

  • He carried the Olympic torch in 2002.
  • In the 1990s he rode his bike cross-country to raise money for charity.
  • On September 24, 2006, he pulled a big rig with a harness strapped to his body. [1]

[edit] New Bike and Vandalism

In 2004 the word got out [2] that Glenn’s bike was getting old and hard to ride, and within days the community raised over $11,000 dollars to buy him the bike of his dreams[3][4].

In March 2005, both his bikes were stolen by some Indian Hills vandals. His old bike was found a block away, slightly damaged, and his new bike had been thrown off a cliff. It was found in the sagebrush, dented and missing a tire. Both bikes were quickly repaired at the Bike Smith.

[edit] Mural

In the summer of 2006, artist Erik Burke [5] painted a mural depicting Glenn Lucky on the side of the Sierra Podiatry Center, at 1801 N. Carson St. The mural was sponsored by the Capital City Arts Initiative.
